Who said slavery is dead? It is still alive and well. The only difference now is we are slaves by choice which, for me, is mind blowing.
Slavery can be looked at - as per definition- 'a system under which people are bought and sold'. Or in a more modern way, a system where people are stripped from their freedom or given an illusion of it to keep them doing what they are suppose to do.
You did not have a choice but to attend school. You didn't have a choice but to go to university and graduate. You didn't have a choice but to maintain a job so you can afford the car payments and house mortgage. You didn't have a choice but to get the on-sale items at your grocery store. You didn't have a choice but accept the terms and conditions. You didn't have a choice but wearing what is in fashion. You didn't have a choice but signing a 3 year contract to get good rates. You didn't have a choice but showing up at work at 9 and leave at 5 or whenever they release you.
You didn't have a choice but mold to the exact shape and place they want you at. You are a slave. I am a slave. We are all part of a slavery system that has been blinding us from the truth.
the truth is, wait a minute, how would I know that? I have been too busy studying to get a degree, working to pay bills, exercising to look fit, online to be social, and sleeping at night so I can start it all over again the following day.
Unless I can get up one morning, shred my diploma, quit my job, blow up my laptop and send a f*ck you to anyone ever told me what to do, until then, I will always be a monkey in someone's else show.
... and what is it for monkeys but eat bananas.
