Love at first sight is real

As real a mirage that is. People who have seen -or felt it- can swear it is real. They were looking right at it. How something so real  be an illusion. Sorry to burst your bubble but hear me out. I shall explain <[{:-)

Exactly like a mirage, your eyes see the reflection. They see the waves and your mind believes it is water. When you see someone for the first time, you get this rushing feeling and you can't take your eyes off them. You believe in love from the first sight. It genuinely a real feel. Yes, you are suddenly in love with a total stranger. But basic logic tell us this is almost impossible as we don't really know that human being who just walked into our life. Then, how is that even remotely possible? to love someone you barely know?

The feeling itself is real. You fell in love.... with someone. but that someone is a pure fabrication of your imagination. In other words, you fell in love with the imaginary person you always thought you would love then you took that and projected it on that human being you just saw. You fell in love with your own creation.

Now, would you back away the moment you realize this person is nothing what you thought them to be? In most cases, yes you would, but in rare occasions, you would start to love something else about that person - something real. This new chemistry introduces attraction and eventually leads to a love story.

People can meet for the wrong reasons but like eachother for completely different set of reasons. Like seeing a mirage, walk to it to find a river that happens to be there by chance. The thirst was not fulfilled by the mirage but by the pure coincidence of the river proximity to the mirage.

The reason behind this blog is I realized that a lot of people would start something in their life, figure out that this  wasn't what they expect it to be but yet continue their journey for other unrelated reasons and motives. And for me, this is the beauty of life. It is too complex to understand but extremely simple once you go through it one step at a time.

The reasons that make us fail could be the very same ones that lead us to success.

Perception or Deception

It is all in our head. We see things the way we want to see them. We try to feel what we are suppose to feel. Social perception has altered our opinion. An opinion about an event is almost pushed on us to make our own. If we go off the trend, we are the outcast and out of fashion. Make their opinion our own or find ourselves another pack.

As we travel through life, we will inherit expressions, habits and other people opinions. These accumulations will define who we are. We won't feel the change as it creeps slowly on us. Yet after the course of many years, we will change.

It is inevitable. Every event we go through, every person we interact with and every opinion we get exposed to will eventually make it to the core that defines who we are. Accomplishments and failures are just the end results of journeys. The accumulations, not the end results, are what truly alter us. We might have just graduated from school or ended a relationship thinking it is ll over, but in reality, their footprints haven't left us. The theories, the logic, the emotions, the habits and the people still wonder within the shadows of our existence. It is obvious that  People can affect our perception as well.

Take a moment, dig deep and find something you started doing ten years ago and find its inception. You will discovered it was introduced to you by someone or some event that you barely even remember now. Yet, the outcome of it, is part of who you currently are. It is safe to say Events can also affect our perception.

Many will tell you how they hate a specific song or a band not because of its lyrics or melody but on how they feel when they listen to it. Songs could be attached to people who we no longer ... 'like' - for the lack of another word. On the other hand, others might love the same song for the same exact reason. How we feel or simply Emotions can truly affect our perception.

Numerous things can affect our perception, which got me to think, is our opinion truly ours? or is it simply the overflow of accumulated ideas, concepts, thoughts and emotions we inherited from others along the way.

Smoking out taillights on 2003 Mazda Protege

I didn't like how the stock taillights look. They are big, ugly and simply don't fit with my car color. I decided to smoke them out using VHT spray. Here is a quick step by step HOW-TO on how I did it. I am not saying this is the ideal way of doing it, but how I ended up doing it. I know I was suppose to take the taillights out and do it but hey laziness sometimes saves you time.

You will need the following: piece of cloth, tape, invisible glass,VHT (~$10) and an hour.

1) clean your taillights. Grease and dust are your number one enemy, so make sure they are really clear. I used Invisible Glass (what I had at the time)

2) cover surrounding areas using tape and newspapers (or whatever you got). The bigger the better: wind can be tricky.

3) Practice spraying before you apply it on your taillights. Start with edges then the total surface. When ready, start with your first coat. The more coats you add, the darker it gets. Its up to you really how dark you want it. I did three. Leave at least 10 minutes between coats.

- first coat

- second one

4) third coat, let it dry ... and voila!

I only showed the left tailight, but I did both at the same time. This way you get them with same shade.

By the way, it might be illegal to do this. Check the law. Peace!

The best is yet to come

I thought I can never get over it, now take a look at the grin on my face. We never know the best thing in our life until the next best thing comes along, thinking what we currently have is the peak. Yet, think of all the things out there. For every car you see, there is a better one right around the corner. For every good movie you just watched, there is a better one in the making. For every gadget you buy, there is a faster, smaller and cheaper one to be released soon.

For every time we thought it can not get any better, a better thing comes along. So don't hold on to something thinking it is the best it's going to get because it does get better. Simplify your life, worry less and look forward to what is awaiting you.

Because the best is yet to come ...

Telling a lie ... and another

"To lie is to hold something which one knows is not the whole truth to be the whole truth, intentionally." - says the Wiki to the Googler.

Everyone lies, but not everyone is good at it - luckily. Depending where you apply the lies, people might respect your skill or never talk to you again. Before you jump the gun and give me these looks with the obvious 'Lying is bad, regardless', for you, Sir, Mam, I say, you are an moron. But again, I could be lying to prove my point.

Sarcasm and exaggeration are both a form of lying according the the definition above but yet is perfectly acceptable -given that not everyone gets sarcasm-  but you can get away with a lot of things just by using the right tone.

The most skillful poker players are really good liars: they really know how to bluff you. The better you are at hiding the truth or misguiding people, the more of a Pro you are considered and respected in the game.

Doctors do it all the time. Not to harm their patients but to give them hope. Psychology plays a huge role in recovery. Telling a lie could actually increase the odds of recovery. No-one wants to lose hope.

Every time you are holding on a secret, you are telling a lie because you are not exposing the 'whole truth'. And if you argue that you don't uphold secrets, then I am sorry to tell you, but you are a liar.

You clicked on 'I read and Agreed to the Terms', didn't you? You, Sir/Mom, are a liar.

Just by walking in a movie theater to watch a movie, you are going with the intention in believe the lie (aka the story) they are about to present you. A good story teller/writer can't afford to be a bad liar. The better the lie, the better the movie is.

Self encouragements: "I can do it" are also lies . We know in most cases we will fail but we lie to ourselves to get off the ground and back on the horse. Speaking of horses or animals in general, it has been shown that  animals also do lie. Chimpanzees, for instance, trick other chimpanzees by walking in conflicting patterns away from a banana to confuse others in thinking they found one.

Use your judgement and see if it feels right or not. You don't need law, ethics or religions to tell you if what you are doing is wrong or not. You know it already. So put down your Bible, close your law books and forget what your mom taught you. Look within, your answer is right there.

But seriously, don't lie, no one is smart enough to realize the mess they are about to create. Simplify your life, tell the truth, this way you won't have to remember the alternative universe you just created out of thin air.

Lies are like bed bugs, once they show up, they just multiply until they eat you alive. Whoo, what a horrible image to close my blog with.  So instead, look at the buuuuuunnny!!! they are just too cute to lie.
